The Queensland Program of Assistance to Survivors of Torture and Trauma (QPASTT) is a non-government organisation providing a range of services to people from refugee background, especially survivors of torture and trauma. These include counselling services, specialist children’s and youth programs, community development work, research and innovation.

 

QPASTT is seeking expressions of interest from qualified counsellors interested in undertaking work with people from refugee backgrounds settling in Rockhampton. The position will be based at the CentraCare Office in Rockhampton

 

We are seeking a qualified counsellor interested in part time work to undertake the provision of counselling and advocacy services for refugee survivors of torture and trauma. Relevant counselling qualifications and experience are essential and may include social work or psychology.  QPASTT will provide training and induction and the ability to travel to Brisbane for this will be required. At this stage we are interested in someone available to work approximately 20 hours a week until December 2010.

Position Description - Counsellor Advocate Rockhampton

 

QPASTT is seeking to fill a number of positions in its Brisbane Office. Applications are being sought from suitably qualified people for the following positions:

  • Co-ordinator, Mental Health Respite Program – 12 month position
  • Building  Stronger  Families Project Worker    -  12 month position

Co-ordinator – RESPECCT Program is responsible for the co-ordination of the mental health respite program for carers. This program is a pilot program and runs until June 2011. Position Description Co-ordinator RESPECCT

 

The Building Stronger Families Project Worker [1 year position] is responsible for delivering the Building Stronger Families Program with emerging communities of refugee background in Brisbane, Logan and Toowoomba.  This Program addresses the impacts of cultural transition on families and focuses upon raising children in Australia.  The Project Worker will require excellent group facilitation skills and will be responsible for developing strong working relationships with local communities and families. They will also coordinate and develop skills within bicultural support workers engaged in the Program.  Qualifications and experience in human services and community based practice is essential.Remuneration:  SACS Level 5 – Salary Sacrifice available.
