Projects Underway at QPASTT

Resources available to QPASTT fall into two categories – “Core” funding or recurrent funding which is provided by government programs on an annual but recurring basis, and “Project” funding. A significant proportion of QPASTT’s activities, each year, fall into the category of “Project” work. That is, these are discreet pieces of work, funded on a one off basis with relatively small amounts of resources.

During the years 2001/02/03 the following projects were undertaken at QPASTT:

  • Youth Peace Program – a peer skills program for young people
  • Homework Club
  • Qld Integrated Refugee Health Clinic (QIRCH)
  • Basketball Project – for young people (boys and girls team)
  • Children’s Program: Peace Project & Underwater World
  • Community Development Project with the Temporary Protection Visa Community
  • Dialogue in Healing Project
  • Networking Visible Ink – in partnership with the Brisbane City Council
  • Research
  • ‘Chill – Out’ Holiday Activities for young people
  • Burn Out Prevention Project – an organizational development project for the Refugee Claimants Support Centre
  • Grassroots Advocacy Initiative and Refugee Learning Circles
  • Train the Trainer – “The Need for Understanding” a two day training workshop for workers in the mental health field
