Community Development Project with Temporary Protection Visa Holders (TPV)
In 2002 the Community Development Project changed its focus. The main focus was on health and mental health issues.
The refocus was as a result of high levels of anxiety amongst many of the TPV holders. The uncertainty of their visa status and their futures has meant that our Project Worker, Dr Taher Forotan, has been facilitating access to services and providing information for the community.
Part of the Community Development Project was to focus on female TPV holders. Ms Samira Fattal was employed for twenty weeks. The project was unique and a first for QPASTT. The Hazara women responded warmly and with eagerness as many new relationships were formed and treasured.
The heart of the project was to support a newly formed group of Hazara women in activities that were important to them. Important issues such as depression, isolation and health concerns have been identified by the women. QPASTT will continue to seek appropriate ways of addressing these issues.
