Peace Program

The Youth Peace Program is a 10 week program run by QPASTT, Kyabra Community AsHIPsociation and Contact Inc with young people from a refugee backgrounds in high schools.  It explores experiences of past, present and future and ideas about working together to increase Peace: at a personal level, with others and the world, using a peer support model. Some outcomes of the program have included:

  • young people from Sunnybank  & Yeronga High Schools produced and presented an information booklet to school staff
  • production of an information sheet sent to the State Youth Advisory Council (SYAC)
  • two members from Afghanistan spoke to SYAC about the issues facing those on a Temporary Protection Visa
  • three young men from a HIP program were interviewed by Triple J, which was broadcast nationally on Harmony Day
