The ‘Underwater-World Project’ was designed and introduced to children to explore and develop their inner world. Animals, water and sand can be seen as innate aspects of human nature and are regarded as the most common “acquaintances” of a child’s inner world. When used as a medium of therapy these innate aspects enable children to better understand themselves.
The outcome for the children involved showed that:
-
their willingness had conquered hesitation
-
self-determination won over a lack in self-confidence
-
inner strength stepped over weaknesses, and
-
competence countered doubts about their abilities
Overall, the Underwater-World project speaks for itself. From a therapeutic point of view this project has highlighted another small step that these children have marked on their road to recovery from past experiences.
