Community Development Approach

There are multiple levels of QPASTT understanding of community development. At a systemic level community development means moving the private concerns expressed by clients, workers, volunteers into the public arena of social change.

At a partnership level community development means working developmentally with ‘refugee communities’ with a commitment to participation, empowerment, building relationships, mutuality and trust.

Examples of past and current community development initiatives include:

  • a CD project supporting refugees living with a Temporary Protection Visa (TPV)
  • a 'Dialogue in Healing Project' that explores non-western approaches to healing at the individual, family and community level
  • a partnership with the Sudanese Association exploring issues of inter-generational conflict
