QPASTT's Role

Child Therapists can assist children and their families. Therapists will talk with the child, and they may also use such techniques as art, play or sand therapy. The purpose of working with a child is to help them constructively understand their experiences and how to cope with them in appropriate ways.

This in turn can raise a child’s self confidence and esteem to understand more about his/her self and to interact better with others.

QPASTT therapists can also assist with problems arising at school by working together with parents and teachers to ensure the child and their family is understood and receiving the best support possible.

When to Refer

  • Behavior changes persist.
  • Parents/service providers (eg: child care center) are having difficulties knowing how to respond.
