About Us
The Counselling Advocacy & Support Team at QPASTT offers longer-term counselling and support for those who have been here longer than 6 months.
The primary focus is on healing from torture and trauma. A range of counselling approaches is used including Creative Therapies. Counselling is sometimes complemented by Natural Therapies and group work.
Whilst there is a waiting list for counselling, children are given priority to be seen as soon as possible. QPASTT accepts referrals direct from individuals and families, doctors, community and government agencies. Referrals will not be accepted if the person concerned has not agreed.
QPASTT also provides counselling advocacy and support services for those who have faced long term unemployment as a result of torture and trauma and refugee related issues through our Personal Support Program (PSP). Referrals are made by Centrelink direct to QPASTT. People can also refer themselves or their family members to QPASTT or Centrelink for PSP. |
