About Us

QPASTT considers natural therapies to be an important therapeutic component of a holistic approach to dealing with the devastating effects of torture and trauma. The Natural Therapies program was established in early 1999 and continues to support the physical and emotional health of our clients.

Nutrition Therapy

Most people realise that what you eat and absorb becomes the building blocks for the body and mind.  Food can be  medicine or poison, depending on the type of food, the quantities and the needs of the body.  We help individuals make better food choices and offer nutritional supplements to restore health.

Homeopathy

After traditional Chinese medicine, homeopathy is the second most widely used system of medicine, according to the World Health Organisation. Homeopathy offers a holistic form of treatment, taking into consideration mental, emotional and physical conditions. Homeopathic medicines are non-toxic and non-addictive.

Massage

Massage is extremely effective in facilitating relaxation and soothing stress-related muscular pains. It is also used to treat physical injuries as a result of torture. Furthermore, the benefits of experiencing positive, healing touch is invaluable for many survivors of torture and trauma.

Herbal Medicine

All over the world and throughout time people have used plants for their healing properties.  Different species of plants and different parts of plants are good for different ailments.  The herbs can be used as teas, ointments, liquid extracts, tablets or capsules. We also practice aromatherapy, which is the use of fragranced, oils called essential oils, that come from flowers and leaves. They can be inhaled or used during massage to improve mood or used topically for their antibacterial properties.

Flower Essences

Australian Aboriginal people have used flowers to bring about emotional balance for thousands of years, as did the ancient Egyptians. At QPASTT we use gentle indigenous Australian Bush flower and Bach flower essences which are wonderful for a range of emotional and mental issues and are particularly suitable for children.
