Art About Peace

Created by Young People from a Refugee Background Art about Peace

HIP (Help Increase the Peace)

The HIP program is a 10 week program run by QPASTT and Kyabra Community Association at Sunnybank High School and CONTACT Inc at Yeronga High School.  It is for young people from a refugee background and explores experiences of past, present and future.

As part of the HIP Program the sticker and badge were designed by young people from refugee backgrounds attending Yeronga State High School. The group consisted of young men and women from Serbia, Kurdistan, Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Afghanistan.  Young people held temporary and permanent visas but felt strongly that all had come to Australia to escape war and find peace and safety.  The stickers represent this message that all people deserve peace, safety and freedom.
